PERTH, WESTERN AUSTRALIA, AUSTRALIA – April 13, 2017

At an accelerating rate, Mexican mines are taking advantage of advanced simulation technology along with skilled people and proven process, from Immersive Technologies, to optimize their equipment operator workforce.

Mine sites are measuring significant improvements in key metrics as many new sites invest in operator training simulators and associated services. Recent examples include:

  • Pan American Silver has expanded their simulator based training program to include underground drills and LHD´s. This follows the adoption six months earlier of a simulator based truck operator training solution which is managed and operated on site by Immersive Technologies.
  • NEMISA, Mexico’s largest underground mine, has invested in simulators for their new training school.
  • A leading silver and gold producer has expanded simulation training capacity following achieving a 10% fuel savings using Immersive Technologies simulation based training solutions.
  • La Cantera Desarrollos Mineros, one of Mexico´s leading underground contractors, has invested in a simulator based LHD training solution that will be supplied, managed and operated on site by Immersive Technologies.

"Honing operator skill and safety is increasingly more important in Mexico, and mine management is looking to technology and managed solutions to get their sites running more safely and profitably. Our combination of people, process and simulator technology is delivering proven results in the Mexican region, and more and more mines are seeing the value and return on investment making Immersive Technologies the clear choice for a training partner," says David Anderson, Executive Vice President - Sales and Support at Immersive Technologies.

Operator Training Results at Pan American Silver

At Pan American Silver’s underground La Colorada site in Zacatecas an embedded Immersive Technologies Trainer is in place to support and manage the IM360 simulator based training solution. In less than six months the site has seen impactful improvements including:

  • 6.5% reduction of total TH315 underground truck failures
  • 8.7% reduction of electrical failures of TH315 fleet
  • 12% reduction of in hydraulic system failures in TH315 fleet

“Many of our Mexico customers are choosing a managed service where Immersive is not only providing the Technology and Process but also the People to execute the training. This means the mine does not need to spend resources and time developing their own content from scratch but instead benefit from a turnkey solution that produces quantifiable return on investment from the very get go,” says Bryant Mullaney, Vice President Managed Services & Consulting at Immersive Technologies.

Leading Silver and Gold Producer Reports Fuel Savings

An open-pit gold mine, located in the Sonora desert, needed an efficient model to help reduce fuel consumption. With many factors impacting site consumption they needed a best practice model to address variables.
Using the fuel consumption data for each operator, twenty operators were selected and divided in two groups. The first group was trained in the simulator and monitored in the mine site. The second group did not receive training and were only monitored. In this project both groups worked in the same route, with the same loading implement over a three month period.

After the first month, the group that received training improved, reducing fuel consumption by 9.56% over the group that did not receive training. No loss of productivity was reported in achieving this saving.
“The combination of people, process and simulator technology is delivering proven results in the Mexican region and more and more mines are seeing the value and return on investment making Immersive Technologies the clear choice for a training partner,” said David Anderson, Executive Vice President - Sales and Support at Immersive Technologies.

Condition Monitoring with a Digital Camera

The oil and gas industry has become critical for sustained operations and long-term asset reliability. When it comes to condition monitoring, expensive technologies, extensive training, and years of development often come to mind, especially regarding rotating equipment. Tools, such as vibration spectrum analysis, thermal imaging, oil lubrication analysis, and motor current analysis, provide valuable snapshots in time and have been useful in practice for quite some time.

Beyond the Bellows: How One Root Cause Failure Analysis Sparked Cultural Transformation in Refinery Reliability

Sometimes, technical problems are symptoms of deeper cultural and operational issues. This article explores how a deep dive into recurring fluid catalytic cracker (FCC) expansion joint failures led to far-reaching insights, not just about metallurgy and maintenance, but about a refinery's decision-making, communications and reliability culture. It’s a case where the root cause wasn’t just in the metal, but in the mindset.

Quick Time to Value: How to Accelerate ROI in EAM Implementation

Enterprise asset management (EAM) implementation is sometimes misperceived as a complex, resource-intensive endeavor. But that perception is rooted in legacy approaches and outdated systems.

Optimize Operations in 7 Steps: The Strategic Art of Maintenance Planning and Scheduling

Effective maintenance planning and scheduling are essential to prevent unplanned asset failures from dictating your schedules and driving your budgets. In a reactive, unplanned environment, maintenance efforts falter—funds meant for proactive upkeep are instead wasted on waiting for parts, delayed equipment transfers, and emergency fixes that disrupt planned work

Industry 5.0 Is Empowering Today’s Factory Workers and It’s a Long Overdue Revolution

The impacts of Industry 4.0 and its younger sibling, Industry 5.0, fall right down to today’s factory workers. While embedded automation and optimization within the Internet of Things (IoT) and Industry 4.0 have the power to drive new efficiencies, they have also led to the introduction of more complex job roles and tasks, but for fewer frontline workers.

From Data to Action: The Complex Path of Advanced Analytics and Reliability in Industry

In today's industrial landscape, the buzz around advanced analytics is hard to ignore. Companies are increasingly looking to harness the power of data to drive efficiency, reduce downtime, and gain a competitive edge. However, the journey from collecting data to taking actionable steps based on that data is far from straightforward.

Engaging and Retaining the Asset Management Workforce

Employee engagement and retention are critical for the success of asset management organizations. High turnover rates and labor shortages pose significant challenges, impacting operational efficiency, safety and overall workforce morale.

Do or Do Not

Data analysis is critical to understanding problems and decision-making. Analysis that is not followed up by an action is likely a wasted opportunity, but not always.
